Will Regulation Cast Light On Shadowy Private Markets?
This is a good question and one I think about a lot, not just as a reformed lawyer but mostly as a participant in the Family Office space and especially as my core thesis revolves around private market investing.
My view is fairly simple, there are already enough rules and regulations that govern the private markets.
Where we are seeing more action is in the enforcement of those rules and regulations.
There are bad actors in every sector but we need more regulators to understand and consistently police the regulations that are already in place.
Inconsistent action is the real killer here.
The Secretive $10 Billion Firm Backed By WhatsApp Billionaire Jan Koum Is Quietly Building A Startup Portfolio
I’m expecting to see a lot more tech entrepreneurs to build out their family offices exactly like this.
They’ll have flexible mandates to invest across the capital stack which makes them a lot more strategic than a crossover firm.
They can invest in any stage and make strategic bets.
Best-in-class investors will want to work for them because they get to focus on investing, albeit within the biases and mandate set by the principal.
Keep an eye on this one, if you can find any public information.
eBook: How to minimize third-party risk with vendor management
A robust vendor management program isn’t just required by compliance frameworks like SOC 2 and ISO 27001. It’s also a critical part of a holistic trust management strategy.
Implementing a vendor management program, however, has become more complex and challenging with the proliferation of SaaS tools and shadow IT. And many overstretched security teams are being asked to do more with less.
To stay compliant and secure — and deepen trust with customers and partners — security teams need a way to proactively manage vendor risk.
This guide from Vanta, the leading trust management platform, brings together perspectives from the frontlines of vendor security management. Get insights and best practices from security and compliance leaders.
